Young mums tell it like it is
YWCA has worked with thousands of young mums and we spoke to many of them as part of this campaign. While every young mum has a different story, we found many of them also share similar experiences.
Many young mums are frustrated by the lack of respect shown to them - especially by some politicians, some sectors of the media and those who they rely on for advice and support. Many have experienced prejudice and misunderstanding from people in services like education, health and childcare.
What they all want is the right to be treated equally with the recognition and trust that they can be good mums and the chance to lead fulfilling lives.
